- Alcohol is sugary and can cause dumping syndrome, a common side effect of gastric bypass
- Alcohol can cause stomach ulcers and patients who have had weight loss surgery are more at risk of developing ulcers
- Alcohol is not recommended 6 months post-surgery to allow the stomach to heal
