Bariatric Surgical Options in Mexico
Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Also known as Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, gastric sleeve generates weight loss by restricting the amount of food that can be eaten. The stomach is divided (irreversible) vertically with 85 percent of it being removed.
Gastric Bypass Surgery
Gastric bypass surgery restricts food intake by creating a small pouch at the top of the stomach. The pouch is connected to a section of the small intestine, allowing food to bypass the lower stomach and the first two parts of the small intestine.
Duodenal Switch
A biliopancreatic diversion, where a smaller part of the stomach is removed, and the remaining section stays attached to the duodenum (the upper part of the small intestine).
Revision Surgery
Revision surgery can repair, revise or rescue a failing or inadequate prior procedure. Dr. Alejandro López performs all revision surgeries including gastric band to gastric sleeve and gastric sleeve to gastric bypass.
Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery
The SILS Technique involves placing multiple instruments through a single access point. It is a minimally invasive surgical procedure in which the surgeon operates almost exclusively through a single entry point, typically the patient’s navel. Unlike a traditional multi-port laparoscopic approach, SILS leaves only a single small scar.
